Transforming Art into Keepsakes: Van Gogh and Beyond

Transforming Art into Keepsakes: Van Gogh and Beyond

More Than a Miniature Reproduction

Creating jewelry from artwork requires thoughtful design and technical finesse, and my experience with print and graphic design helps me reimagine masterpieces with a modern touch.

Design

Since an entire artwork rarely fits onto a single earring, I often focus on a compelling, recognizable detail.

I also consider the framing, enclosing the artwork in an interesting shape.

Printing

I anticipate and adjust for common print challenges like shifts in color, saturation, and brightness to keep the colors true.

Realities

Not every artwork translates well into jewelry—some lose impact when cropped or scaled down. And when compared to a high-resolution photo, there is a small amount of resolution loss.

That said, printing on clear acrylic creates a striking shadowbox effect. Light refracts through the material, adding depth and beauty.

Custom Work

If you’re considering a custom piece, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to assess the design’s potential and provide a quote.

The designs in this blog utlitize public domain imagery and can be reproduced for your store. (Minimums apply to printed items.)
